Why can't i find a job?

Question: Why can't i find a job?

(Posted by: JuliaD on 2010-02-02 21:35:58)

Okay, I am so frustrated and I feel like something is wrong with me. I work as a shift manager at a fast food chain, I am a senior in college, going for a bachelor degree in Business, concentration in accounting. I consider myself to be intelligent, very nice, pretty, etc...I have applied and interviewed for several job openings for positions that would give me better experience in my field...but with no luck...any suggestions on how to find a new job? The type of positions I am going for right now include accounting/ finance internships, administrative assistant, secretary, payroll, accounts receivable, hotel night auditor, etc, etc, etc. Please help!

The economy is at it's worst since 1982. the unemployment rate really is around 15% of course the GOv. will never tell you that. If i were you i would look into getting into retail, ONLY because it is a job that LOOKS better than fast food, more professional, unfortunately there are a LOT of people out of work who do the jobs you are applying for. I'm 30, have anassocaites degree and work at a craft store as a cashier, the economy really sucks, and people come in to this crappy craft store looking for a job EVERYDAY! God Bless

There are 12.5 million americans out of work. so yes jobs are tough to find but i do know of one company that is looking to expand and it might be in your area

You're not the only one. No one can find a job these days.

I have been trying to find an IT job to get my foot in the door since June 2007, it's now early 2010, still haven't landed a single Tech job in the last three years. If I don't find an IT job by April, my mind's made up: I'm going to put my loans on defernment, and go finish my 4 year degree in Computer Information Systems. Maybe that'll help get an IT job somewhere, but I read that people even with Bachelor's degrees and higher can't find work, either, and they are stuck working minimum wage jobs they got straight out of high school. I will be getting my 2 year degree in CIS - Networking in May. I'm graduating Friday. There's no Tech jobs in my area. The news says there's a shortgage of IT people in my town, but that's a load of crap because I have been trying to get an IT job sine 2007 and have landed nothing. Every last company in town are on hiring freezes, cutting back hours, laying off, budget cuts, or closing up for good. Or, if they are hiring, they are getting picky. For every Tech opening, there has to be 100+ applicants who are vying for that same IT job I am applying for, and it is getting harder to stand out from the pack since HR Managers got so many people to pick from, unemployed people are now getting desperate for work and willing to take a pay cut to have money coming in, and no chance for me in IT. I'm tired of going on job interviews to waste time and gas to get doors shut in my face. I can't get the chance to gain experience if no one doesn't hire me. I'm not gaining IT experience watching daytime TV and it doesn't pay the bills. I need a real full time job at a local company. I'm not going to volunteer my IT services for a year or two, either, I have student loans to repay, and they aren't waiting a year or two - they will go default. Unpaid internships does not pay the bills, either. I have even tried local computer stores but none are hiring for anymore Computer Technicians. I try my school's career center but they aren't a lot of help when it comes to job placement. It's maybe because nobody is currently hiring due to the crappy recession, and shrinking job market. I don't know what else to do besides beg and cry for an IT job. I'm getting tired of applying and interviewing, though. I want to work! I don't want to work retail or fast food.
