I'm having trouble finding a job!?! tips?

Question: I'm having trouble finding a job!?! tips?

(Posted by: on 2012-01-27 12:08:52)

I am 18 years old. I just graduated high school last year. I am thinking about starting college next year but I will still need a job now and while I'm in college. So I have no experience which makes it really difficult to find a job. I had one interview but there was a lot of other ppl and I didn't get the job. I'm looking for one either in Spartanburg or Greenville SC that pays atleast $8 hr. or more because I need to buy a car and pay bills. Any tips are appreciated. Thank you :)

Hunt around, write emails etc etc. You don't get if you dont ask!

Well as you are thinking of starting college then I suggest you could find a part time job in supermarkets or wherever available and earn a bit of money and then you could try going to a job centre, when you interview for a job you should dress up smartly (e.g blazer, blouse, tie basically a suit, if not try finding smart and appropriate clothes) you should be polite and confident (use basic manners like please, thank you and you could plan on what you could say like a play script almost and relax) don't be late if there is an appointed time. Or you could ask around if they will take an extra worker or something. But I can tell you that finding a job is very difficult if you haven't studied in or been to university. These are the tips I could find, I'm British and I am still in High School but my elder brother is in University so he gives advice to me so there is not much I could help but hope my tips/ advice helped any ways.

Go to a nice hotel and apply. They like fresh new minds for molding. Even though you have no work experience you still need to make a resume. You can find templates online to make one on Word. Below is a link of an example.. Most employers will like the fact that you made one. Also dress nice for the interview. If you dont get a call back in at least 4 to 5 days call them. If you do get an interview make sure you get the e-mail address of those that interviewed you so you can write them to thank them for the opportunity for an interview. Working in the hospitality industry is a lot of fun and great for college students. I know this all sounds very tedious but you have to be aggressive these days. Hope this helps you out.

I was just in basically the same situation as you. You could first try out working for a temporary employment agency. They have tons of ads on the internet job sites. They will give you a factory job that requires no experience. The downside is it is not steady employment. You can be employed for one week and jobless the next. Sometimes they will only hire you for a day or two at a time. What worked for me was going to a government employment agency. They provided free help to help me get a job. See if there is one in your area. They got me a full time job.

Apply for job on campus. They mostly hire college students.
