Is it reasonable to believe an average person can get a job if they apply themself to job hunting?
Mostly referring to minimum wage jobs, not necessarily full time. Some people I know keep insisting that it's " not as easy as I think" to get a job. I think some people just won't stoop to getting a minimum wage job or want to get unemployment from a better playing job or have some other reason for not searching for a job. I realize it depends where you live. I'm saying this assuming that the theoretical person has reliable transportation.I'm not saying it's alright longterm to make minimum wage. I'm not saying the country is headed in the right direction, I'm not trying to assign blame here.I'm just asking if you guys think it's realistic to get a job and start saving up and bettering yourself. The person who I'm trying to help actually does not have transportation even though in the question I say that they do I'm just trying to take that out of the question I'm trying to help someone get a job so they can save up for a vehicle and then maybe get low income housing and save up more for college and go to college and then do better for themselves.

How to successfully go job hunting?
I had an interview at a couple insurance companies, but decided that wouldn't be a good match for me considering its based solely on commission. I am going out today to find a very nice business casual outfit and and making about 30 copies of my resume getting prepared for Monday and Tuesday. Where I am literally going door to door, office to office, and a couple temp agencies. I need to find a decent full time by middle of January. How do I successfully job hunt? Basically how do I sell myself and my resume???I have a very good resume, but I know getting a job depends a lot more on how good your resume looks.

Questions on job hunting?
I'm looking for a seasonal part time job I'm 18 , I volunteered at one place before and worked briefly at one place before. I have 4 questions. When I go job hunting should I 1 bring a resume? 2 if i don't bring one will it hurt me? 3 when I go to a store should I ask the manager personally if they are hiring or just ask a worker? 4 when I'm done filling out my app should I give it to the manager personally ? Thanks

Whats a good site for job hunting?

When you're job hunting, do you have to look for places that are hiring?
im 17 and i wanna start working.but im curious, do u have to look for places that are hiring or can you walk in a store and ask for an application?

Is there any good job hunting site for bilingual job seekers?
I'm now looking for sites that provide me good pieces of information related to bilingual skills, like English other Asian languages including Japanese, Chinese r something like that. Thanks

Help with job hunting?
Today, I'm starting job hunting. I graduated from college last week and now I am on the hunt for job as a Medical Assistant. I have several questions that concern me. Is it okay to call ahead of time to see if a medical office is hiring? or should I just go in, introduce myself and ask in person? I just don't want to waste time and especially gas money when I'm already unemployed and can't afford to be driving around all day hoping to find someone who's hiring. Is it important to have a cover letter? Many of the offices I want to apply at don't have websites where I can find information about them. Making it hard to make a cover letter. And for as many places I would like to go apply to, it would be very time consuming to make one, not even knowing if they're hiring in the first place. My third and last question is, should I wear my interviewing clothes when I'm handing out my resume?Thank you.

What are your pet peeves about the job hunting/application process?
Some of mine are....Long online applications what are resumes for if we still have to fill out all our past employers etc Fake job ads on job boardsJobs that expect you to have NO life by being " flexible" in scheduling, working evenings, weekends, days, split shifts etc. Why can't they just hire an extra person to work those odd hours instead of stretching one person so thinly???Jobs that post an ad for a position but you find out it doesn't start until a month later etc

Does long distance job hunting work? How will I ever get out of here?
I recently finished my master's degree and secured my first job, locally. I really want to move to a bigger city soon and get a bigger job so I can keep moving up in my field. There is only so far you can go here in Crapville and I'm just sick of living here and putting up with all the stupid people here. I keep reading that long distance job hunting doesn't work because the employers want someone who can start right away not after they get moved and everything. If this is true how will I ever get out of here, or am I just stuck here for the rest of my life or until I win the lottery?I don't make enough here to save anything. That's part of the problem.

Learning difficulties and job hunting help?
I am job hunting at the moment, does anyone know of any job sites specifically for people with learning difficulties? I asked a similar question before but people assumed because I was also asking about benefits to help me while I am job hunting that I didn't want to work Thanks Have tried google, can't find any companies that help people back to work unless they went to specialist schools or had help through school. I had neither as my mum and the school just thought I was lazy. Only got picked up a couple of years ago

What do I say when I go job hunting at retail stores?
Tomorrow I'm going job hunting at some stores. I'm unemployeed and I've never really been job hunting like this before. Do I just walk in and go to the front counter and ask if they're hiring? If they say no, what should I say, just thanks? If they say no could I still give them my name and number and ask them to call if they have an opening? What is appropriate? Thanks so much

Job hunting in person? I'm 16 help!~?
So I plan on going actual job hunting some day this week. All I've been doing is applying online and calling them just to hear that they either aren't hiring right now, the manager isn't in right now, or I should call later. I'm getting so sick of it. It's getting a little frustrating because I feel like I can't get a job because I have no experience, I feel like the manager is just going to skip the application when they see the " past experience" section is completely blank. But how am I ever suppose to get experience when I can't get a job? D Anyway, I've only applied to Arby's, Target, CVS, McDonald's, KFC, and some others but no luck. I've only gotten an interview from KFC which went awful btw, it was my first interview , and that was months ago. Haven't heard from them since. Anyway, I'm now gonna try to go for mall stores like Claire's, Wet Seal, etc. Do you think actually going in person will make any difference?? Around what time should I go? What should I wear? Any other advice tips?? Please anything is useful Thanks

How can you search for a job on LinkedIn, without all of your co-workers knowing you are job-hunting?
I've heard LinkedIn is a great place to network with other IT Professionals and possibly find a job. But many of my co workers are in my LinkedIn network. How can I use it to find a job without them knowing what I am doing?
