Two ways to get laid off which is better?
I earn a living as a bus driver working for a private company fulfilling a government public transit contract.In my current position, I am 19 out of 24. Actually as of next week, I am 19 out of 20. 4 drivers were cut. Only three trips were cut, but to cover them and others the company is exploiting a flaw in the union contract and adding to the work schedule of most drivers at literally a cost of $3 4 a day per driver so those of us remaining get a " raise" .This may not be the end of cuts. The company says 20 or 19 could be let go in a few weeks. Even 16 isn't safe... They just don't know.The alternative is to be 5 out of 5 that when the contract expires 1 year from now, 5 is gone. Right now 5 is vacant. 4 is 63 and in poor health, but probably can " hang in" until he's 66. If I take this job, it is about 98 % certain I will be cut a year from now. Between now and then, it is 100 % certain I am safe. Which would you choose?Yes they are bid runs. Low guys get bumped around every time the bids change.
My 401k, geting laid off need some advise please.?
My current job is laying me off on April 5th, and well i have the option to leave my 401k there, transfer it to a ira or a roth ira, or cash it out, which is not an option for me. I'm 23 years old, would it be more benificial to leave it where it is, or transfer it to an ira or roth ira ? i mean since i no longer will be working i will not be contributing, nor my current employer will be matching will this hurt my 40k if i leave it there ?
My bf just got laid off, boss says probably for 4 weeks...should he file unemployment for that short time?
Okay, so he got laid off today. The boss says that there will be no work available for about 3 4 weeks until more projects start. Then his crew can go in and do the underground, and then they will be laid off again for another 4 6 weeks until they can start the next step in the construction. Should he file for unemployment? If so, will he be able to get unemployment again for the 4 6 weeks that he will be off in a couple months? He has worked there 9 years and was laid off last year for the first time ever for almost 6 months. He went back to work last October, and has worked until today. We live in PA btw. Anyone have any info for us? Basically we know that he will be laid off for 3 4 weeks and then later for 4 6 weeks. Should he wait until he is laid off for 4 6 weeks to file? Or can he file for both time periods? We are really going to be struggling for money, and if he can get benefits for both periods it would be great. But if he can only file for one period then he will wait until the longer period.Sorry if it is confusing Thank you for your answers

I worked for a sub contractor and then was let go when the contract was bought. I was out of job for about 2 weeks then got hired by the new company. I still have the same job title but the name on my pay check is different.

I just got laid off from my job at UPS and the rule with the company is you have to work 60 hours the previous month to qualify for health dental insurance. I did a great job there and there is a chance they could hire me back in a week or two, but in the meantime, are my medical benefits still valid for another month since I worked 60 hours last month? Or do they cease immediately because I've been " laid off?"
Can I get unemployment if I got laid off from a part time job?
I have been working for a clinic for a while now and found out today if business doesnt pick up we'll have to close in 2 months. I have been looking for full time work but due to state budget cuts and a poor economy have only been able to find the part time job I'm at now. If we should go out of business in 2 months will I be eligible for any type of unemployment assistance and if not will I have any options, money is tight as it stands now, without at least part time income I wont be able to afford rent, groceries, or insurance.

Can I get unemployment if laid off and boss offers me a new job at a separate company he owns?
My boss owns two businesses. The one I work for is closing, which would grant me unemployment. He wants to offer me a job at his SECOND business knowing full well that I cannot work there distance issues, under the table pay, and 60 hours a week with no overtime . If I refuse the job offer, can I still collect unemployment? I feel like he's offering me this job specifically to keep me from getting unemployment, as he knows I cannot work it.
