Is there any way to buy a house while being laid off?
I have been renting for almost 5 yrs which has left me paying nearly 20,000 dollars for a place which I'll never own. I worked steady for 3.5 yrs and just recently decided to do a program where I get paid to go to school. My fiance is a welder so any welder family knows work comes for a few months and your laid off for a few months. Though the unemployment is well over our pay out monthly I can't figure out how to buy a home while being laid off.. we have easily 20k to put down on a home but we don't know how to get financed for the rest of it. My fiance is also " self employed" as a mechanic plumber how would someone who was self employed get approved for a loan? Even if he does get work soon he's gotta be there for a yr before banks wanna give us a loan and most jobs don't last a whole year they last until the work is done and they send you on your way. Any advice would be greatly appreciated no snide or ignorant comments please. We are very responsible and though some people say buying a home is a luxury its also a necessity in some cases.

I am receiving unemployment and I have a phone interview with unemployment department today. Will I lose my benefits if I tell them that..." It slipped that I was looking for another job closer to home and then my boss said they were going to look for a replacement. I said I wasn't quitting and I didn't want to leave. They hired someone else, I trained them and I kept asking if there was anyway they could keep me on...but the COO said that they wanted to move forward now..." We are all being laid off yet have different separation contracts, why is that?
My company recently told everyone we were all being let go and a new company was coming in, they believe we will all be picked up by this new company but no promises. We all will recieve a severance pay with the company as long as we sign the the severance contract. We have learned that several of us have one contract while the other half have another. Why is that?

I may be going through foreclosure soon. I am on unemployment now. If I get a temp job and I request two weeks time off to move, and get laid off because the employer can't afford to have me gone, will I collect Unemployment? Told "laid off", former employer later says "fired".?
My mother had been working for a year as a part time clerk at a small physician's office in Hawaii. This is a private office with unorganized labor, no work contract. Although she was given very little guidance or training on how to do her job, she seemed to be doing good and got along great with her coworkers. She was even given a raise a few months ago. Her work attendance was excellent.Two weeks before Christmas she was pulled into the doctor's office five minutes prior to ending her work shift and was told to pack her things and it would be her last day because " it wasn't going to work out." Her position was deemed minor enough that it would be absorbed by other workers in the office. She was never informed of any unsatisfactory work performance never received any performance evaluation . She was completely blindsided. It was her understanding that eliminating her position was a cost cutting measure. No other reason was given no reason or indication of poor performance .However, she found that after she was laid off, the office immediately rehired the woman that once did my mother's job prior to her this woman had quit and moved away apparently her move did not work out so well and she had recently moved back looking for a job . It seems that my mother was laid off in order to rehire this former employee.My mother filed for unemployment benefits AS DIRECTED BY HER EMPLOYER. However when interviewed by the unemployment office, she was informed by the office that the employer reported she was " fired due to poor performance" . Now she awaits investigation to be conducted by the unemployment office to see if she will be able to receive unemployment benefits.I suspect the employer has told the unemployment benefits office that she was fired so they will not face any increase in unemployment taxes. My mother has an excellent work ethic and has never been fired before in her life. She is mortified to think she will have to face this on her employment record when applying for other jobs. She is depressed and feels helpless. Can anyone offer any advice? Thank you

I work at a retail clothing store at the mall as a seasonal part time sales associate. As the holidays approached, I got more hours. But after the holidays, I've been getting less hours along with on call shifts that they didnt need me for. Last week, I was scheduled for two on calls shifts, both resulting in another day off since the store didn't need me.This week, I don't have any shifts scheduled at all. I thought my manager had forgotten to put up the schedule since new years was approaching, but I doubt it. I still have to pick up my " last" paycheck. Do you think I got laid off? I know it's perfectly legal to lay off without notice, but I think it's unprofessional since they didnt even bother telling someone like me, who hasn't been in the store for almost two weeks Not even a phone call...
Laid off one month and just start unemployment benefits, company called back wants me to work 6 days next week?
I work at a seasonal job that laid me off a month ago and I just got a call today from my manager asking me if I could work six, 8 hour shifts next week and then be laid off again until the summer.I very recently claimed unemployment. If I decide to work those 6 days how will this affect my unemployment benefits? Will I lose my benefits?
