Is this normal when unemployed?
Was laid off a week ago from my job of 3.5 years. Still haven't had one call or email reply to my resume yet Is this normal when a person is unemployed? I'm 28 years old and have never had a problem getting a job before.

How do I help my unemployed husband?
My husband is currently working for a small privately owned company. Hours are apparently on a first come first serve basis, and he never knows his hours until late Tuesday nights we're talking like 9 PM 12 AM via phone call. Some weeks he'll work two days of 12 hour shifts, or a spread out week with 4 hour shifts, or some weeks he isn't given hours at all. When he was hired, he was told he'd be working full time, but that was months ago. I'm sick of his job and the fact that I'm the only one with solid paychecks and hours and paying rent. We've had multiple discussions about it, but I think he's feeling frustrated because he's applied for so many jobs and not really gotten any response. Are there little things he can do to spice up his resume, or suggestions for how to go about getting a response? We really need a new job for him
How can she get a job when she's been unemployed for almost 4 years?
My friends niece is 33 years old and she has been unemployed for going on 4 years. I'm trying to help her find a job, ANY job. I know you may be saying " Doesn't everyone need a job these days?" She's a really good person and everything, she just puts everyone ahead of herself WAY MORE than she should. She's had jobs in the past, but my friend says she's always seemed to do something to get herself fired. He says she'd come to work drunk once, she slept with the bosses married son at another job who also worked there and caused the marriage to end apparently. She's been fired from 3 or more jobs overall, and when my friends Mother got sick, his niece moved in with them, to help take care of her. When his Mother passed away 5 years ago , she just felt like she could stay with him and his brother forever rent free watching episodes of CSI everyday and cooking in exchange for room and board. It's gotten to the point where it's getting ridiculous. I was laid off recently myself, but I'm still trying to help her find something too, so we can all be employed together. She'll call temp agencies, but they will ask for her social, see that she hasn't worked in 4 years and tell her they can't help her. Not sure what to do at this point. She's going everywhere I'm going and I feel bad when we have to get back in the car, because they tell her they can't work with her. Is this kind of thing illegal? How can she ever get a job at this point? Advice?
