Whats the most difficult part about being unemployed?
Is it because you know you have money issues or you don't know how to occupy your free time?
Where do I go to file an injury claim that happened in a store, being 18 and unemployed?
I have tried contacting the public defenders office and they told me that they " don't sue stores" . I have also contacted my local police department to ask them what I should do and if there is anything that needed done though them and got nowhere. All they told me was I needed to find an lawyer and sue for injury. When asked what court I needed to file through I was told " I don't know" . The fact is I have no idea what I'm doing. I don't know the law very well and I don't know where to go or who to talk to. I don't have any money to pay court fees and etc. I was told that I could get a public defender for free but now I don't know. I just need someone who is knowledgeable about this to help me.To give some detail about the situation I was in the store and was looking at the Plasma Balls they had on display. Next to them was a black light that at the time I thought was another Plasma Ball on display. It was a big, round sphere and looked just like the others, not to mention that is was sitting next to actual Plasma Balls. There was no labeling that it wasn't one, and there were no " do not touch" or " display only" signs anywhere so I decided I would put my finger on it to play with it. Well it wasn't a plasma ball, and was VERY hot. It severely burned my finger to the point of the blister formed and split open in a matter of seconds. There was no warning signs that it was hot nor was there reason to believe it would be. I told the store's assistant manager about what happened and about how there should be a sign. Her response was, and I quote, " Well you shouldn't touch these anyway, because there can be an electrical build up and the glass will explode." . Well upon further research they do in fact not explode as she claimed, and even if they did there should be a sign warning of said explosion.So I went over to my friend and asked him if he heard of Plasma Balls being prone to explosion, and the assistant manager came over and interrupted us and told me I had to leave. When asked why she said I was talking bad about the store. I tried to reason with her and work the situation out but she kept interrupting me and threatened to call the law on me for trespassing. Then had a male associate come and bully me out of the store. I understand that they have a right to refuse service and all that, but it's obvious that the only reason I was kicked out was because I was complaining about their negligence. So if somebody could help me I would greatly appreciate it.
Would you accept $10k from your aunt for your mortgage, if you weren't sure you would remain unemployed foreve?
I worry that her giving me $10,000 for my retro and current mortgage will have been in vain if I don't get a job right away, as I'm unemployed. I'm newly unemployed and there is a 50 50 chance I will get a temp to perm job soon in my industry. The thing is, temp to perm jobs are not with certainty, but they are probable, if they like me, that is. I will have to go into foreclosure if my aunt's money runs out. Her money won't last me that long. I can move in with my dad. Would you accept her $10K? She's elderly, btw, and doesn't have a lot saved, but she does work still. Oh, it's really been a struggle keeping my house, with all of my bills Thx I'm female & can't do all of that work. I make a high salary and those jobs wouldn't add up to what I made in my field, in order to pay my bills. Thx, though
After becoming unemployed in Feb 2011.?
I rolled my 401k into a conventional IRA. I have only received state unemployment throughout 2011. However, I continued to pay the same amount of alimony & child support and have been since the layoff. It's wiped out almost all my saving ....and I'm now faced with potentially having to liquidate my IRA. I've read about the 2 % of AGI allowance on realizing my IRA losses. Can I do this for multiple years since the IRA losses are so significant? I have losses of 25 % $45k in just 2011 alone and have made no contributions throughout the year.
How old are you when you dont need to work anymore because you have enough $ to live unemployed?

Can I do a balance transfer if I`m unemployed?
Is it possible to do a credit card balance transfer to a 0 % interest credit card but carry on paying off the debt for a couple of years?Gerardo L thanks, I don t have a 0 % card, only the ones that are charging high interest, I am trying to sort it without telling Mum as she ll go mad. Nobody seems to want to hire me, or rather I am not committed enough to find a job. Should I work for free like volunteering and boost my resume. Seems like a waste of time
Why do unemployed people feel hopeless?
If you've lost your job, your instinct tell you that your survival is at risk. The longer you look for one without sucess, the more hopeless you FEEL. Its not that you are actually hopeless, its that you FEEL hopeless. Your longevity has nothing to do with the job or how much money you have. You can get killed at anytime for any reason regardless of title or wealth. You will still be alive without a job or money for as long as god allow you to live, even if it meant eating crums to live day by day. What I am asking is where does this feeling of hopelessness come from? Is it really because their survival is really being threatned? Is it because they do not know what else to do besides working? The typical life of a worker includes working from Monday to Friday and staying home doing nothing on Saturday and Sunday. The unemployed can be seen as having Saturdays Sundays all the time.
Can I claim head of the household is my mom was unemployed the whole year?
Ok I'm 23 years old and I moved to NYC to work full time with the same company i've been working for the past 3 years.My mom was unemployed for the whole year, the only type of income she received was unemployment. It wasn't much but it definetly helped. I can't claim my mom as a dependent because she made more than 3,700.00 on unemployment, but I basically had to cover rent, food, and utilities all by myself while she lived with me. Now my question is Can I claim HOH?
Will the early withdrawal 401(k) penalty for long term unemployed who've exhausted benefits be waived in 2012?
I am a 55 year old who has been unemployed for 2 and 1 2 years, and withdrew from a 401 k from an earlier employer who've I've separated from service from long ago. I'm told if I was recently separated from service in the year I reached 55, I wouldn't be assessed the penalty. The facts are, I have no source of income, and I'm being assessed a 10 % early withdrawal penalty when I'm required to withdraw it lump sum. The tax code needs to be looked at in this issue. Agree?I am the sole wage earner in the household, and have a mortgage payment to make in addition to property taxes, insurance, etc. and 72t life expectancy is not an option. My point is that if I was with the same employer up until age 55, I would not be assessed the penalty. I don't have a problem paying the penalty, but the way the code is written, if I was employed up until 55, I'd be able to collect unemployment, wouldn't need the funds to make end meet. On top of that, I wouldn't be assessed a penalty for withdrawing after unemployment was exhausted, if that wound up being the case.

Can you settle $32K in credit card debt to creditors if you are unemployed, but really can pay your creditors?
I am unemployed, and soon I will be living with my dad rent free. I don't know when I will get employment. I will be able to pay my credit cards, but it will be slightly hard. Will they accept settlements if I am able to pay my credit cards and do pay my credit cards? How do they know I live rent free at my dad's? Or, do I have to stop paying my credit cards in order to settle out my debt? If I stop paying my credit cards and resume paying them again when I become employed, can I at least have my finance charges and late pay fees waived? Do the creditors ask for your bank statements to prove you really can't pay them? Thanks
