Am I eligible for unemployment benefits?
I was working part time at Chick fil A for about 4 months, but let me go for no apparent reason. I'm 16 and I live with my parents in Colorado. The difficult thing about my situation is that they didn't " fire" me. they kept me in their system, but made it clear that they will NEVER give me any more hours. so technically I am still employed by them, but I'm not really working for them.I was thinking of applying for unemployment benefits since I've had a hard time finding another job. Do you think that the government would find me eligible or not?
What's up with the unemployment benfits for the income tax return?
So let's say your unemployment benefit si 2000, and the first 2400 is not taxable. However, the federal income tax withheld from this benefit is $128. Am I going to report that $2000 on the 1040 tax form? And also should I report the $128 tax withheld by the federal in the 1040 as well? Also, on the state and federal form, it asked " unemplyment compensation in EXCESS of 2,400 per recipient, my answer should be zero since I have it under 2400 right? If so, how am I going to report that 128 federal income tax withheld?
Hi, I'm receiving unemployment from my previous job right.?
I was also working part time for Walmart right. I was told that if I called out 1 more time that I would be terminated right. Unfortunately I had to call out a few weeks after ms boss told me that, but the phone was busy so I couldn't speak to anyone. Since I knew I was fired anyway, I didn't bother to keep calling. The next day or maybe a few days after that, I tried to call him again, but they said he wasn't in right now. After that I didn't try to make anymore attempts to call.So I just left it alone. Now I can't file my unemployment because the unemployment office said it has to be reviewed by an unemployment case worker. And also since I never spoken to anyone from the job, it's called " job abandonment" Do that mean they will stop my unemployment from my former job that I had before I abandoned this job??? Unemployment, said i have to write what happened on a form that they're mailing me and it will be their decision on whether or not I'm still eligible to receive unemployment compesation from my previous job.
Is there anyway you can quit a job and collect unemployment?
Could I not be able to collect unemployment benefits if my employer does not respond to the states request ..?
I filed for unemployment benefits in the state of Maine 2 weeks ago, and while I realize it generally takes 1 2 weeks for the benefits to begin, and have checked the status of my claim on the Maine.gov website, it continuously says that the claim has not been processed and is still awaiting information from my previous employer. I DO have a letter of termination from the company stating I was released from my position due to business situations, and by no fault of my own...therefore believing I would have no trouble collecting while searching for another job. To add insult to injury, I was fired by my ex and his family, and fear that they may just not respond to the states request for information. Could I be denied or unable to collect if they don't respond to the states inquiry? Thank you for your help.
Is the American unemployment situation really that bad? ? (is unemployment a problem there? )?
I just watched a TV commercial where an investment advisor said that " stress is that guy down the hall with 3 kids and a mortgage, how do we handle the news that we've got to let him go after 20 years?" Is it really that bad in America? Are people just getting laid off like that?
Is it best to pay taxes on unemployment benefits up front?
I pay both state and federal taxes on my unemployment benefits which totals about 15.5 % of my weeky benefit. Is this the best way to pay them or wait til tax time end of year?
Does a blog w/ ads disqualify me from unemployment benefits (WA state)?
Four years ago, I started a blog containing Adsense ads. Over time, traffic has increased such that I receive approximately $100 mo in Adsense income. I rarely update the blog any more.A few months ago, I was laid off from my day job Washington state , and started to collect unemployment. I asked the unemployment office what types of income need to be reported, to figure out whether my Adsense income was a problem. I didn't get a specific answer from them, nor have I found one on their website. I continue to look for another job and file for weekly benefits, and I also continue to receive small payments from Google.I've read that in other states, casual blogging has been considered a form of self employment. Do you know the rules or precedents in this area? If I file a Federal Schedule C for my blog income, will that come back to haunt me as " proof that I cheated" on unemployment?P.S. No guesses please, I need answers from people who really know the answers.
If I earn $5000 in unemployment, do I write $2600 on line 19 of form 1040 or $5000?
P.S. Where can I find the schedule M for the Making Work Credit in the IRS site? I can't find it.
Will my unemployment benefits be available at midnight of the day you expect to get them or later on?
Am I eligible for unemployment?
I was offered a new position with a new company. I quit my job of 2.5 years for this one. I have the letter of hire and attended the first day of orientation. Prior to being scheduled for orientation I completed the paperwork and a fingerprint back round check. I was not told of any problems as I didn't think there would be. I attended 1 2 of the orientation and was pulled out half way through it. I was told I was not allowed to go forward with the orientation, and they would be putting my job back up for eligible candidates. I was told that there was a problem with my back round check. she showed me the paper that had very old charges that were disposed of and sealed by the courts on them. I tried to explain to them that The charges were unfounded and outlandish, and that the judge had disposed of and sealed the record because of that I told them I have paperwork from the court that proves this. I do I was told I should have reported this to them. I explained that I did not since I was nothing more than a victim in that case and that again everything was taken care of and disposed of and sealed. I was escorted out of the building like a criminal. Can They do this? I am being punished for something I took care of and was pr oven that I did not do
My bf just got laid off, boss says probably for 4 weeks...should he file unemployment for that short time?
Okay, so he got laid off today. The boss says that there will be no work available for about 3 4 weeks until more projects start. Then his crew can go in and do the underground, and then they will be laid off again for another 4 6 weeks until they can start the next step in the construction. Should he file for unemployment? If so, will he be able to get unemployment again for the 4 6 weeks that he will be off in a couple months? He has worked there 9 years and was laid off last year for the first time ever for almost 6 months. He went back to work last October, and has worked until today. We live in PA btw. Anyone have any info for us? Basically we know that he will be laid off for 3 4 weeks and then later for 4 6 weeks. Should he wait until he is laid off for 4 6 weeks to file? Or can he file for both time periods? We are really going to be struggling for money, and if he can get benefits for both periods it would be great. But if he can only file for one period then he will wait until the longer period.Sorry if it is confusing Thank you for your answers

Unemployment due to being laid off?
So I was laid off from work due to lack of work in January. Ever since then I have been receiving unemployment benefits and applying to I worked and I was wondering, how long do I have to wait before I can just ask for my severance? I want to do this because I feel that my boss isn't planning on calling me back to work ever seeing as how she told me that I would be back to work in February and it never happened. Thank you for your time in helping me
